Brent Crews survives wild night, Caden Kvapil completes season at Ace Speedway

Competitors at the zMAX CARS Tour 285 by AcceleratedGFX.com held at Ace Speedway on Friday showcased their abilities in a test of skill against one another, the track, and the demanding weather elements.

Even though the facility was slowly getting encircled by rain, CARS LMSC Tour drivers were in a hurry, engaging in intense competition for track position throughout the race. The anticipated rain did not arrive, resulting in a thrilling ending that brought disappointment to many drivers and left spectators amazed.

After numerous late-race incidents took out several top contenders, either through crashes or penalties, Brent Crews emerged as the leader on the scoring pylon. This win marked his third victory of 2024 and maintained his chances of winning the LMSC Tour championship.

Throughout the 100-lap Pro Late Model feature, there was fierce competition. Although various drivers took the lead at different stages, Caden Kvapil successfully overcame early obstacles and completed a perfect season sweep at Ace for the PLM Tour.

As the conclusion of the CARS LMSC Tour feature at Ace Speedway approached, Brent Crews was content with aiming for a strong performance in the remaining ten laps.

Upon the waving of the checkered flag, Crews found themselves in Victory Lane.

Potential winners in Brenden Queen, Ryan Millington, Connor Hall, Conner Jones and others all fell by the wayside during a chaotic sprint to the finish. Crews utilized the circumstances presented to him by fending off Mini Tyrrell through two late restarts to continue a stellar rookie LMSC Tour campaign.

"Winning carries substantial importance," articulated Crews. "The paramount objective in racing is to attain triumph; anything short of that falls short. I am thankful to a higher authority for steering us to this juncture, and I am especially grateful for the team that stands by my side. Numerous hours have been committed to refining my abilities and accumulating expertise across diverse vehicles, all in the quest for personal development within this series and beyond."

A versatile competitor with success on both dirt tracks and road courses, Crews has seamlessly adapted to the grueling, competitive LMSC Tour environment. Two victories in 11 starts had Crews within reach of the championship lead heading into Ace.

Finishing 15th at the end of his first trip to Ace back in May left Crews and Kevin Harvick Inc. with plenty of work in front of them if they hoped to be competitive on Friday evening. Crews admitted his No. 29 Toyota Camry likely would not have prevailed without the onslaught of cautions, but was more than satisfied to have luck favor him in the closing stages.

Even though Queen and Hall managed to overcome their individual on-track obstacles and achieve top five placements, Crews struggled to reduce his points gap significantly. To contend for the championship title, Crews will need to put in a considerable amount of effort in the upcoming five races. Nevertheless, he takes comfort in the fact that he consistently maintains a race-winning pace every week.

Crews expressed gratitude for the support from everyone around him, including the teams at Toyota Racing and Mobil 1. He attributed much of his success to their efforts. He also commended Shannon Rusch and the team at KHI for their excellent work. Crews emphasized the importance of having a top-notch race car, stating that his victory was made possible by driving the fast Toyota Mobil 1 Camry.
