Prock, Millican, Stanfield and Herrera roll to wins at 70th Toyota U.S. Nationals



Austin Prock, the current leader in Funny Car points, clinched his inaugural win at the U.S. Nationals by defeating Ron Capps, who had won the event consecutively, in the final round of the 70th annual Toyota NHRA U.S. Nationals on Monday at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Additionally, Clay Millican, Aaron Stanfield, and Gaige Herrera emerged victorious at the Big Go.

One of the most thrilling moments during the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season was when Clay Millican clinched the Top Fuel victory, showcasing his exceptional skills and determination on the track. Millican's win not only secured his place as a top contender in the series but also marked a significant milestone in his racing career. Similarly, Aaron Stanfield's triumph in the Pro Stock category highlighted his prowess as a driver and his ability to navigate the intense competition in the series.

Meanwhile, Gaige Herrera's win in the Pro Stock Motorcycle division added another layer of excitement to the event, as he demonstrated his speed and agility on the drag strip.


Herrera's victory not only solidified his position as a rising star in the sport but also showcased the fierce competition among motorcycle racers in the NHRA series.

The 14th race of the season was particularly memorable as it was the first U.S. Nationals win for all four drivers, underscoring the significance of the achievement for each of them. Prock's outstanding performance at the final round, where he went 3.885 seconds at an incredible speed of 327.98 mph in his 11,000-horsepower Cornwell Tools Chevrolet Camaro SS, showcased his exceptional skills and precision on the drag strip. By leaving the starting line first and maintaining his lead to beat Capps' 3.935, he demonstrated not only his speed but also his strategic racing acumen.


This victory marks Prock's fifth win of the season, a remarkable achievement that further solidifies his position as a top contender in the world of drag racing. His path to the finals, where he overcame tough competition from Chris King, Alexis DeJoria, and Blake Alexander, highlights his consistency and determination throughout the event.
