Richmond lost Cup Series date to Mexico City

The upcoming Cup race in Mexico City next season will represent the fifth straight year where NASCAR's top series will feature a new points event.

NASCAR will eliminate one of the two Richmond weekends to accommodate Mexico City on the Cup schedule, as confirmed by Ben Kennedy, NASCAR's executive vice president and chief venue & racing innovation officer, on Tuesday. Although the 2025 Cup schedule has not been unveiled, it might be released later this week.

When asked by NBC Sports, Kennedy confirmed our continued dedication to Richmond. He emphasized the track's significance and its importance in reaching our NASCAR fan base.
