Ryan Millington ends winless drought, Spencer Davis celebrates first CARS Tour win

Ryan Millington had a lot of motivation to secure a long-awaited zMAX CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour victory, as he aimed to secure the pole position for the South Carolina 400 at the Cook Out 225 on Friday.

It had been more than four years since Millington narrowly defeated Layne Riggs, now a competitor in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, to achieve his first major victory in the CARS LMSC Tour. By implementing a perfect tire strategy at the challenging Florence Motor Speedway, Millington successfully returned to Cook Out Victory Lane, outperforming a skilled group of rivals.

As Millington experienced the cathartic emotions of winning an LMSC Tour once more, the co-leader of the CARS PLM Tour points secured his first checkered flag, granting him a slight edge over Kaden Honeycutt in the close championship race.

For Ryan Millington, the journey back to the top of the CARS LMSC Tour podium was both challenging and exasperating.

Despite his unwavering dedication and continuous efforts to enhance his racing program, victory had remained elusive for Millington throughout the past several years. However, all the hard work and perseverance finally paid off when he achieved a significant milestone at Florence Motor Speedway last Friday. This triumph was not merely the result of luck, but rather a testament to Millington's strategic prowess and adaptability. In a sport as competitive as Late Model Stock racing, Millington acknowledged that mastering tire strategy was crucial, even though it had not been his forte in the past.

By meticulously analyzing his approach and making calculated decisions during the race, Millington demonstrated remarkable patience and tactical acumen. This victory not only marked a personal achievement for him but also highlighted his ability to overcome challenges and continuously improve his performance. It serves as a reminder that success in motorsports is not solely determined by speed and skill on the track, but also by the strategic mindset and resilience of the driver.

Millington expressed his astonishment by stating, "I am at a loss for words, to say the least. I didn't believe we had the superior car, but it seems we executed the best race, which proved beneficial for us. I have encountered numerous challenges here while riding and utilizing my equipment, so I suppose I have gained enough experience for tonight. Everything finally fell into place for us."

Millington and his father dedicate themselves to working tirelessly on their No. 15 Leisure Tyme Rentals Chevrolet every single day. Opting for an R&S Race Cars chassis during the offseason has boosted their confidence in consistently performing well at the front of the pack.

Close calls at Hickory Motor Speedway and Ace Speedway over the past month only served to fuel Millington's determination to showcase the strength of his racing program. Despite facing challenges, these experiences motivated Millington to push himself further and fine-tune his skills. Each setback he encountered on the track became a stepping stone towards success, providing valuable lessons that he incorporated into his racing strategy.

As he prepared for the 125 laps around Florence, Millington was armed with a solid blueprint that he had meticulously crafted through perseverance and resilience.

Millington flawlessly carried out the plan and will now need to begin devising a strategy for the South Carolina 400 starting from the pole position. Despite the main event being a few months off, Millington plans to mark his victory at Florence in the LMSC Tour before promptly heading back to the workshop to continue working on his car.
