Watkins Glen International to host August triple-header NASCAR race weekend in 2025

Watkins Glen International will once again play a key role in determining the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs field by hosting a summer race weekend to conclude the regular season, as revealed by the track's announcement coinciding with NASCAR's release of the 2025 schedule for all three national series.

During the Go Bowling at The Glen race weekend on Aug. 8-10, drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series will have one of their last chances to secure a victory and qualify for the 2025 NASCAR Playoffs, as this event marks the third-to-last race of the regular season for both series.

Next year, fans can look forward to more excitement at the iconic road course with the addition of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series to the lineup, joining the Cup Series and Xfinity Series. The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series made its most recent appearance at the historic road course in 2021, with Austin Hill emerging as the victor. Before that, the Truck Series competed on The Glen's challenging track from 1996 to 2000.

Dawn Burlew, President of Watkins Glen International, described Watkins Glen International as a demanding and esteemed road course that offers an ideal setting for creating championship chances. She expressed excitement about the upcoming Playoff action at the venue, as well as the prospect of fans supporting their favorite drivers in the following year's Playoff qualification battles. Burlew emphasized the pride in WGI's significant contribution to NASCAR's championship events during these two seasons.
