Xfinity Series, Craftsman Truck Series 2025 schedules feature return to Rockingham Speedway

In 2025, NASCAR racing will make a comeback at Rockingham Speedway, over ten years since its last national touring series race was held there.

Next April, NASCAR revealed that the Xfinity Series and Craftsman Truck Series will race at "The Rock" track over Easter weekend. This marks the return of the Xfinity Series to Rockingham after 2004 and the Truck Series after Kyle Larson's victory in 2013.

Ben Kennedy, NASCAR's executive vice president, chief venue and racing innovation officer, mentioned that discussions about 'The Rock' have been ongoing for a couple of years. He credited Track Enterprises, one of their partners who have organized several Craftsman Truck Series races in recent years, for bringing this opportunity to the table.

According to Kennedy, the addition of various new events, such as the reopening of the iconic North Wilkesboro Speedway, contributed to the decision to include Rockingham on the schedule once again.

During his explanation, Kennedy highlighted the continuous efforts put forth by the owners to improve the facility, ranging from infrastructure upgrades to enhancing the overall visitor experience. These ongoing enhancements have not only elevated the venue's appeal but have also contributed to the success of recent events held there. The decision to return to the facility was not made lightly; rather, it was a culmination of various factors aligning at the right time.

The decision to return to the venue was greatly influenced by the continuous requests from devoted fans who have been eagerly waiting for the chance to revisit. The organizers highly appreciate their unwavering support and enthusiasm, which significantly contributed to the decision-making process. Thus, the combination of enhanced facilities, successful past events, and enthusiastic fan demands made the timing ideal for a comeback to the venue, ensuring a more remarkable and engaging experience for everyone involved.

Since acquiring the track in 2018, Daniel Lovenheim has been dedicated to attracting NASCAR back to Richmond County. In 2021, the state granted the track $10 million in COVID recovery funds. Lovenheim allocated this money towards repaving the track, along with an additional $10 million from his funds for enhancing the facility.

Along with Rockingham, the Xfinity Series will once again race to Mexico City as part of a companion weekend with the Cup Series on June 14.

With Rockingham back on the schedule, the Carolinas will now play host to four Xfinity Series races and five Truck Series races, including a playoff race on the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval.
